The janeng plant (Dioscorea hispida) holds significant value for the people of Riting Village, Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar Regency, as it has long been utilized as an alternative food source. However, its processing is still carried out traditionally using local knowledge and simple equipment. This results in janeng's potential being underutilized to improve the community's economy and welfare. Through Community Service activities, efforts are being made to increase the added value of janeng through diversification of processed products. This program aims not only to support food security based on local resources but also to increase community income. Activities are implemented through two approaches: tutorials/extension and direct practice. The extension is conducted through face-to-face meetings between the service team and the community, while practice is carried out using Appropriate Technology (TTG) introduced during the training. The program implementation includes five stages: preparation, coordination, implementation, coaching, and evaluation. The results of the activities show an increase in the diversification of janeng products, from previously only dry janeng (janeng tho) and keurabe, into three main categories: (1) Adopted products from processed sweet potato/cassava such as chips, chicken claw cakes, and janeng sticks (krip-krip); (2) janeng Flour; and (3) Flour-based products such as pan cakes, coconut roots, sponge cakes, klepon, and layer cakes. These processed products received a positive response from the community, especially during the expo and launch of the Janeng Production House. It is hoped that this activity will be the beginning of the realization of a sustainable janeng processing industry village.
