In 2024, Dayah Terpadu Babul Maghfirah (DTBM) in Gampong Cot Keueng, Aceh Besar—a consolidated Islamic educational institution housing thousands of boarding students, including SMA Swasta Babul Maghfirah (SMAS) established in 2006—experienced two fire incidents (on January 25 and November 30) that caused significant damage to the female dormitory and scout warehouse. These incidents revealed critical weaknesses in early prevention systems, emergency preparedness, and safety awareness. In response, a community service initiative was conducted to establish a sustainable safety culture through the socialization and training of K3L (Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment), particularly in fire prevention. The program actively involved students (santri), educators, and dayah management in interactive sessions and evacuation simulations. This approach aims to enhance understanding of fire risks and evacuation procedures, while establishing a competent internal K3L team to strengthen both technical readiness and safe behaviors within the school environment. Preliminary outcomes indicate a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and enhanced infrastructure preparedness (including the placement of fire extinguishers, installation of sirens, and evacuation signage), marking the achievement of the primary goal: building a lasting safety culture that can be passed on to future generations.
